I

I am an inclusion teacher for fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students at New Center School in Sevierville, TN in the foothills of the beautiful Smoky Mountains.  I grew up in the mountains of eastern Kentucky and attended a one room school for my first eight years of education.  After fifteen years as a teacher's assistant in Sevier County, I received my B.S. degree in Special Education from ETSU in May 2005 and my Masters in May 2007.  This is my fourth year to teach at New Center.  Teaching brings much joy to my life!

I am married to Jack Hess, a glassblower in the Arts and Crafts Community of Gatlinburg, and we have three sons and two grandchildren.  My favorite activities include spending time with my family, sharing coffee with a friend, reading a good book, hiking, traveling, and shopping.

In every difficult or troubled time, a student ought to be
able to look around and see a teacher standing in his
or her corner. ~ Unknown
