Your child's homework this year will be very important to his/her success. Teamwork makes all the difference!
Reading together about 20 minutes each day is an "everyday-of-first-grade" responsibility.
Your child's homework will consist of practicing oral reading, word recognition, and around the second six weeks - practicing spelling words.
In an effort to maintain good communication between home and school, a folder will go home every day. It will list reading or other homework assignments (i.e. math facts or phonics skills he/she may not have mastered), possible work if he/she was absent, comments from me, and/or school notes/notices etc. When it is time, weekly spelling words will be sent home in the folder as well. The folder is to be signed by the parent after the completion of homework and returned the next day.
